Like many Asian cities, if you want a good idea about the choice and style of food, the markets are the place to go. Because of the extreme heat (30 +) we went early in the morning. It’s hard to imagine a fish market that doesn’t smell. Normally you know your heading for the seafood several aisles away but in MCMC it was so fresh that you could hardly smell it at all. Sea Bass is quite popular here as are all varieties of shell fish – huge prawns, crabs and crayfish. Pork seems as popular a chicken. Nothing and I mean nothing is wasted. You can buys pig intestines, brains, and even the ears. The fruit are very exotic. Fantastic colours, shapes and flavours.
These are dragon fruit – they actually look like cheese with poppy seeds. Delicious!!
